The Capacity Remuneration Mechanism (CRM) ensures that sufficient new and existing capacity is available in the event of significant imbalances in the electricity grid. The CRM is compatible with the Automatic Frequency Restoration Reserve (aFRR) and Manual Frequency Restoration Reserve (mFRR) mechanisms.

Many parties that participate in aFRR and/or mFRR also participate in CRM. Participation in aFRR and mFRR takes priority over CRM activations. This means that if there is a need for aFRR and CRM at the same time, you will be activated for aFRR but not for CRM.
